Toolox® stays in shape in heat
Toolox® engineering & tool steel is a pre-hardened engineering and tool steel with excellent properties at elevated temperatures. It is available as both plate and round bars.
Strenx® for stronger and lighter products
Strenx® performance steel is an advanced high-strength steel in the 600-1300 MPa (100-200 ksi) range for making steel structures that are both strong and light.
Hardox® wear plate is both hard and tough
Hardox® wear plate has a unique combination of hardness and toughness, making it both wear and crack resistant. Depending on your particular wear situation Hardox® wear plate can improve performance and increase service life several times compared to other AR steel grades.
Duroxite® takes durability to the extreme
At SSAB Wear Solutions, we are pioneers in developing and producing the latest in overlay technology. Duroxite® overlay products are particularly well suited for fighting sliding wear from exceptionally hard particles such as minerals containing quartz, even under extreme conditions of heat or wetness. Duroxite® is a wear-resistant compound material made by welding chromium carbides or complex carbides on top of mild steel or Hardox® wear plate. Our Duroxite 100 plate is guaranteed to fight wear. The Duroxite 101 is overlay with a Hardox backup. Duroxite 200 multiplies wear resistance with its complex overlay. Duroxite 201 upgrades complex overlay with a Hardox backing. Duroxite 300 provides extreme resistance without chromium. Duroxite 500 combines high impact & wear resistance.
Abrasion & Impact Resistant, Air-Hardened Wear Steel Plate Astralloy-V is a unique, deep air-hardened steel that is rich in chemical composition and physical properties. It is through-hardened and unsurpassed in resistance to impact and abrasion. With continuous impact and abrasion, Astralloy-V can reach a hardness in excess of 550 BHN without brittleness.
Astralloy-V Round Bar®
Astralloy-V Round Bar® Astralloy-V round bars have the same chemistry, uniform toughness and hardness as plate, from surface to core. Astralloy-V’s ultra-fine grain structure, free of massive carbide particles due to its lower carbon content, provides better machinability at its higher strength/hardness level than quenched and tempered alloys.
- Uniform hardness throughout the mass (340 BHN) to resist abrasion and promote slide ability, and toughness to absorb impact without cracking.
- Maintains its toughness and hardness without brittleness at temperatures of up to -75°F (-60°C).
- Hardenability in the range of 550 BHN by impact or sliding action, without deformation or brittleness.
- Astralloy-V’s small oxide surface quickly disappears, exposing a slick, durable surface.
- Can be hot worked and allowed to air cool without loss of hardness or toughness and without warpage problems.
EN30B Round Bar
EN30B Round Bar is a 4.5% Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum through hardening steel which has the ability to harden in fairly large sections, giving strengths of over 1550N/mm². Due to its high hardenability, these strengths are achievable by air from the hardening temperature. This steel is used for applications requiring high tensile strengths for which more drastic quenches would produce distortion or cracking, especially in parts of intricate design.
Typical applications of EN30B grade steel
- High duty gears
- Aero engine connection rods
- Differential shafts and other transmission components
- Airframe forgings
- Heavy roller bearings
- Breech mechanisms
- Small arms components
EN30B steel is still often referred to as 835M30 steel – its equivalent grade under the previous BS970:1955 standard.
